    Talk Event

    11 Oct 2018 (Thu)

    19:00 - 20:30

Guest Lecturer : Takeshi Hayatsu from Hayatsu Architects

As part of the Japanese Junction London 2018 programme, Takeshi Hayatsu of Hayatsu Architects will be presenting a talk based on his recent collaborative projects in Surbiton and Lake District, discussing the influence of Japanese architecture and issues of heritage, tradition, ritual, myth, education and crafts.

Takeshi Hayatsu is a London-based Japanese architect.

After studying architecture in Tokyo, Takeshi moved to the UK to complete his education at the Architectural Association. He worked at David Chipperfield Architects, Haworth Tompkins and 6a architects before establishing his own practice Hayatsu Architects in 2016. He now leads a small team from his studio in Bermondsey, London, and his unique, hands-on approach to design is fast gaining the industry’s attention. Hayatsu Architects was named one of London’s top 10 young architects you need to know in 2018 by AJ writer Ella Braidwood.

Takeshi currently runs postgraduate architecture design studios at Kingston University and Central Saint Martins. He combines teaching and practice by working with students on self-build projects for cultural and community organisations, including The Community Brain in Surbiton, Grizedale Arts in Coniston and Barbican Centre in London.
